Referral Information
The YES Mentoring Program believes that all children have value and all children are reachable. Children can benefit greatly from one on one attention with an extra caring adult in their life. Many of our current students involved in the program are here for a number of reasons - both academically and socially. We serve children from kindergarten through eighth grade. Our mentors are carefully screened and trained before they begin to interact with the student they are matched with. It's very important that once someone has been referred, they remain patient while we work to match a mentor that would best suite the needs of the child being referred. It is in the best interest of all involved that we proceed with care and caution through the screening process of both mentor and mentee. Sometimes children are placed right away and other times there is a waiting period. There is no set time frame between the time one is referred and one is matched.
Students may be referred to our program a number of ways:
- By a Parent
- By a Teacher
- By a School Counselor
The process is simple and easy. If you are interested in referring a child to our program, please contact us via e-mail at yesmentoring@roschools.com or call us directly at (712)623-6635 and ask for the program coordinator. The program coordinator will forward an application for you to complete. Once you have completed and returned the application, it will be reviewed and the program coordinator will contact you in the near future.
